Why is this topic prioritised by senior leadership teams?

Religious Education is legally required in all schools and essential in providing a well-rounded education to all pupils. According to the Ofsted research review in May 2021, pupils need sustained, deep and long term RE learning in order to engage in a complex multi-religious and multi-secular world.

CPD course aims and summary

• To present and discuss ways of providing effective RE teaching and learning in the classroom.
• To demonstrate methods of putting theory into practice using real life examples from recent high quality classroom experience.

The Southwest Talks Oracy Programme

Why is this topic prioritised by senior leadership teams?

In collaboration with Dr Jim Rogers and The Five Counties Teaching School Hub we are delighted to offer you the Southwest Talks Oracy Programme for 2022. This follows the delivery of the programme to 163 schools in Cornwall, Wiltshire and South Gloucestershire in 2020-21 benefiting approximately 33,000 children in the region.

CPD course aims and summary

• Equip oracy leads with knowledge, skills and practical strategies to effectively develop children’s language through planning, teaching, modelling and assessment
• Equip CPD/oracy leads with strategies on implementation of high-quality, sustainable professional development and to develop collaborative professional learning networks to ensure sustainability
• Evidenced the impact of the training on perceived confidence and efficacy on oracy practice
