Summer Teaching Internship

Our paid 3-week Summer Teaching Internship Programme, delivered in partnership with Get into Teaching, gives undergraduates and master’s students a unique opportunity to:

From Monday 22nd June - Friday 10th July, interns earn up to £455 a week and develop the skills and experience needed to kickstart a successful teaching career. 

 

Eligibility and information

This internship is situated in Bournemouth.

To be eligible for a Teaching Internship, applicants must:

  • Be an undergraduate in their second, third or final year, or a master’s student (this includes students undertaking a 4-year integrated master’s, industry year or part time course
  • Be interested in teaching chemistry, computing, design and technology, mathematics, a foreign language or physics and be studying a relevant subject
  • Not have participated in the programme previously 

Week 1

You’ll be welcomed to your school and, with other interns, receive training on teaching and learning, leading the classroom, and safeguarding.  

Week 2

You will observe lessons both in and outside your area of subject expertise, so you get to see how teaching can be consistent while also catering to different subjects and year groups.  
 
You will prepare and deliver your own 10-minute lesson and receive one-to-one feedback on what you did well and what you could improve.

Week 3

After completing your final classroom observations and asking any final questions you might have for experienced teachers and leaders, you will prepare and deliver a short group presentation on everything you have learned during your internship. 
 
Depending on your subject, you might also have opportunities to go on a school trip or attend school events.
